1st STATION OF THE ROSE CROSS – THE ANOINTING

“32: 2 Then Miryam, the beloved companion, took a jar of oil of pure and expensive spikenard and poured it upon the head of Yeshua and anointed him. And the house was full of the sweet fragrance of the ointment.
“32: 3 And seeing what she had done, the disciples therefore grumbled against her amongst themselves.
“32: 4 But hearing this, Yeshua said to them, ‘Leave her be. She has anointed me for what I am come to do, and done what she is appointed to do. Only from the truth I tell you, whenever they speak of me, what she has done will also be told in memory of her. You do not know or understand what she has done. I tell you this: when all have abandoned me, only she shall stand beside me like a tower. A tower built on a high hill and fortified cannot fall, nor can it be hidden. Miryam is included in the group of Myrrh bearers who gathered to anoint Yeshua after his death, but she alone was the first to anoint him before the crucifixion! A story from the Priestess tradition of Mary Magdalene states that “with her symbol of the ointment jar and its distinguished lineage in the temples of Inana, Magdalene is an emblematic potion priestess. She was the patron Saint of apothecaries and perfumers, with the red rose plant as her sacred sigil, symbol of the red lineage of feminine womb magic, with rose literally meaning red.” (The Magdalene Mysteries, by Seren and Azra Bertrand, ©2020)

This chant was inspired by words from two of Mary’s sayings: (#140) “In her (the Holy Bride) shall all mysteries of the Anointed be revealed.” (#149) “I looked into the eyes of the Anointed and found no beginning, and so also I found no end. Everything is in the Anointed, the Father, the Mother and the entirety.” (Note: Yeshua is referred to as “the Anointed” throughout the Sayings of Mary Magdalene.)
