There is plenty of evidence for the celebration of Beltane across the British Isles involving the lighting of fires and passing oneself or one's livestock in between or over them to promote good health and fortune. In Ireland and in the Highlands and Islands of Scotland there was a tradition of putting out the hearth fires that burned throughout the year on Beltane eve and re-lighting them with embers or brands from the Beltane fires.

This is the custom of the Beltane brand: the community cooperates in the building of the Beltane fires and takes away a part of the blessing into their private or family space. We can concentrate on new personal ideas, projects or undertakings we need to nurture; and take the spark of blessing from our community’s lucky fire into our own hearts.

NOTE FROM AMINA: This is a hauntingly beautiful dance that I have led many times over the years to celebrate Beltane. I have taken the liberty of posting it here because I couldn't find a link to the music anywhere else.
